Derreenataggart West , Co Cork

The next stop was a return visit to the stone circle at Derreenataggart West, a place I first visited in the late nineties, and one I am sure to return to again one day. Located in the Slieve Miskish Mountains, not only is this recumbent circle one of the finest of it's kind, the views here are fairly stunning as well.

The circle consists of eight standing stones plus several others scattered about the site.

The tallest stone is about 2.3m, whilst the axial stone is 1.3m high and 2.2m wide.

To find the stone circle at Derrenataggart, head west out of Castletownbearhaven and then just look out for the signposts, it's very easy to find.
