Shronebirrane, Co Kerry

For the next stop of the day I headed south up the Drumminboy river valley to the stone circle at Shronebirrane which is found in a small field next to the road, with the dramatic backdrop of Tooth Mountain and Coomacloghane on the Cork border to the west.

The circle is incomplete, and consists of nine remaining stones. The tallest stone is over 2.5m whilst the diameter is about 7m. It is likely that originally there were thirteen stones in this circle.

This last picture is looking northeast back down the valley towards Lauragh.

You can almost forget that there is a bungalow built on a plot next to the stones.
