Carrigagulla, Co Cork

After finishing a days work near Donoughmore Cross I decided to visit the stone circle at Carrigagulla SW, near to Ballinagree, and just a minor detour on my drive home.

It was a long walk from the road, but well worth the effort. Another recumbent stone circle, this one consists of fifteen stones plus one in the middle.

The diameter of the circle is about nine metres whilst the stones vary in height from 30cm to 90cm. The orientation is Feb/Nov cross quarter.;

Since visiting Carrigagulla I've learnt there is another circle consisting of five stones located 250m to the North, as well as a couple of stone rows nearby, so no doubt I'll return here one day for another look.
