Ballynahown, Co Cork

The next series of postings are from a couple of weeks ago when I took the opportunity to tour the Beara Peninsula, with a list of sites in mind that I wanted to visit. The first was to be found twenty minutes west of Glengarriff.

Stopping at this wedge tomb wasn't planned, but as it was not far off course, I thought that it might be a nice warmup for the day. Not the largest of tombs, it consists of two upright stones supporting one roof slab. Sheeps Head can be seen looking south over Bantry Bay.
