Belstone, Devon

The last visit of the day was to another site on Dartmoor, the stone circle at Belstone, located on the moors above the village.

This site was a bit of a challenge to find. Despite being in the right area I had to head up towards the top of Belstone Tor and look back in order to spot the stone circle.

The circle is also known as Nine Stones or Nine Maidens (despite the number) and would probably once have been the outer wall of a burial chamber. The tallest stone in the circle stands at about 90cm.
