Ardgroom, Co Cork

Another trip back in time for me as I return to the stone circle at Ardgroom which is located at the foot of Coomacloghare Mountain on the north of the Beara Peninsula.

There are nine stones still standing and another one which has fallen. The diameter of the circle is about 8m, and the tallest stones are just over 2m high.

The view to the north is over Ardgroom Harbour and towards the Ring of Kerry.

The stones here are impressive, and there cannot be too many that beat those at Ardgroom for their location.

6m to the east of the stone circle there is a 2.5m high standing stone, which can be seen on the left in this picture. The small mountain just to the left of centre is Skellig.
